I have a feeling the Flames win it. Wishful thinking perhaps. |

Colin Dambrauskas: 2014 NHL Lottery Draft & Hockey Gods? - Colin Dambrauskas
In fact, prior to last year when the Flames selected 6th overall, their average first round selection was in the low 20’s for the past 10 years – not a great way to acquire young promising talent, I’d say.
It's funny, because two years ago most flames fans would have told us oilers guys that that's a lazy excuse and tons of teams like Detroit and Boston do great with low picks and maybe if our GM wasn't so incompetent and lazy and...
In the end, it takes all kinds... |

True....but Bean Town has had high picks. Thorton, Seguin, Kessel etc.... the Flames have never even picked in the top 5!
Detroit....I'll give you that one! Crazy drafting by them! |

Didn't mean to be overly snarky, if some flames fans are running the 'draft lottery play' it's only because oilers fans wrote the playbook...
...or stole the playbook from Chicago fans but forgot to nab the appendix on trades, coaching and free agency while they were at it. |

Sure, I suppose they have and those picks too. Funny if you start with Thorton the Bruins really did take a long time to rebuild..almsot comforting.
You look at the moves that Chiarelli or Holland have done and it's insane. They pretty much never lose a trade, either. |

Holland might not lose many trades (outside of Quincey), but he sure needs to watch his FA signings. Tootoo, Samuelsson, Cola, Weiss.. ugh. |

Bruins, St Louis, LA, SJ, all took a long long time to get where they are. I hope both Edmonton and Calgary get back into their category. |

Well you can cling to hope.....but we can bring up WAY more examples of teams with high picks a LONG time ago that still haven't come around |

Exactly....the league needs the Alberta teams strong. Which is exactly why the League and Mr. Bettman are going to rig the draft and give the Flames the first overall pick. |

Last time I believe the only Canadian team made the playoffs was Montreal. And they won the cup.... |

Hey Colin, have you heard anything about some college FA's that are still available that CGY may have interested in. I heard the Rangers signed Bodie today. |

My buddy at work suggested Trotz coming to Oilers to help with their defensive game and request some good d-elements. Do you think that would do anything for Oilers? |

Doubt it happens. Trotz has an offer to stay with the Predsin the front office as well as many other teams rumoured to be in on getting him as head coach. Very very small chance he would be an associate to Eakins. And Eakins in a Defensive guy. Just needs someone to fix our pp and get some better personnel on D. A true top 2 shut down guy would do wonders for this team. |
